Shopee Seller Guides
By Jerome Ko · Last updated June 25, 2026 · Sources & methodology
Running a profitable Shopee store in the Philippines requires more than finding products to sell. Every transaction carries a stack of platform-imposed costs — commission fees, transaction fees, platform shipping fees, and optional program charges — that collectively shrink your actual take-home amount well below the price a buyer pays. If you set prices without accounting for these deductions, you may discover only at payout time that a product you thought was earning ₱80 in margin actually netted you ₱30 or less.
The tax dimension adds another layer. Since BIR Revenue Regulation 16-2023 took effect, Shopee now withholds 1% of your gross sales before crediting your payout. Whether that withheld amount becomes a refundable credit, a liability shortfall, or a wash depends entirely on which income-tax regime you are registered under — and many sellers choose that regime without fully understanding the break-even math between the 8% flat rate and the standard graduated rates with 3% percentage tax. Getting this decision right can mean thousands of pesos in annual tax savings.
These guides are written specifically for Filipino Shopee Marketplace and Mall sellers. Each one contains worked peso examples, real rate tables sourced from Shopee's published fee schedules and BIR issuances, and practical checklists you can act on today. Browse by topic below, or jump straight to the Fee Calculator if you want to crunch live numbers for a specific listing.
Understanding Your Shopee Fees
Shopee charges sellers through several distinct line items, and confusing one for another is one of the most common reasons a payout looks "wrong." This section breaks down every cost layer — from the base commission rate that varies by category and seller tier, to the platform shipping fee that funds buyer-facing free shipping, to the optional program add-ons that raise your effective fee rate. Read these guides before you list a new product category or sign up for a Shopee promotional program.

BIR Tax & Compliance
The BIR treats income from online marketplace sales as ordinary business income — no different from a physical store. That means registration obligations, quarterly and annual filing requirements, and, since late 2023, a 1% creditable withholding tax applied by Shopee at source. The guides below walk through who must register, what the 1% withholding actually means for your cash flow, and how to choose the tax regime that leaves the most money in your pocket at year-end.

Pricing & Margin Strategy
Knowing your fees and taxes is only half the equation — the other half is translating that knowledge into a selling price that actually makes you money. A correct price starts with your cost of goods, layers on all platform fees, accounts for a realistic return rate, and then targets a net margin you are satisfied with. The guides in this section give you the exact formulas and worked examples to price confidently, handle returns without surprises, and decide whether a promotion or optional program is worth joining.
